Who we are
Children on the Path to Empowerment (C.O.P.E.) is committed to empowering youth through mentorship, education, and leadership development. Our programs equip young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive academically, socially, and personally. C.O.P.E. operates under the fiscal sponsorship of the After Violence Project, which provides organizational support and oversight as we work to create meaningful opportunities for youth in our communities.

Mildred Peters
Executive Director and FounderMildred Peters is the Founder and Executive Director of Children on the Path to Empowerment (C.O.P.E.). She is passionate about empowering youth and strengthening communities through mentorship, leadership development, and meaningful support systems. Mildred founded C.O.P.E. with the vision of creating opportunities for young people to grow in confidence, develop life skills, and reach their full potential. Her leadership is rooted in compassion, community engagement, and a commitment to helping the next generation succeed.
Leilandra Martin
Co-Director and Co-FounderLeilandra Martin serves as the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Children on the Path to Empowerment (C.O.P.E.). With a strong dedication to youth development and community empowerment, she works to create impactful programs that support young people academically, socially, and emotionally. Leilandra plays an important role in developing programs, building community partnerships, and helping guide the organization’s mission to empower youth and strengthen families.
